The surge has begun - COVID-19 death rates are climbing again.

After a steady decline for the last two months, down to less than 500 deaths per day (still too many), the rate has spiked to nearly 1000 deaths in one day. This comes one month after the number of cases started to rise, and the rise of cases may be due to the rate of testing.

So now, it's real. No more "it's going down, it will go away" etc.

Update: Please note, my only surprise is that it took so long. I expected a 2-3 week lag, and the lag was 4 weeks.

Update: For the second day, the death toll is nearly 1000. It's not a blip.

Of course they are. They lag the hospitalizations as they lag the confirmed cases. bullimiami Jul 2020 #1

Right now we have the most new cases
In a couple weeks it will be the most hospitalizations
A couple weeks after that the most deaths

Facts are facts.

But the GOP does NOT care...in their ugly math, it is not them (so they feel/believe) but minorities and elderly who will die...

The decision was made to simply do nothing and to push the agenda of pretending that the situation is resolved. About 40% of this ignoramus stuffed country is perfectly willing to go along with that too.

By January, we will be past 500,000 dead and on the way into the millions. Because Donald J. Trump believes that a face mask would make him look bad while continuing to believe orange skin, a straw-yellow comb-over and ill-fitting dentures are all totally cool and make him look great...

There is no forgiveness in my heart for him to the 10th generation after he dies (hopefully soon and in a very painful heart attack on the toilet while rage tweeting).

He's not a baby. He's killing citizens and he's killing soldiers. He's a monster. A monster with a lizard brain who amused himself with lies and has no remorse for the deaths he's leaving in his wake.

Confirmed cases are flattening -- because we have reached testing capacity in many places. So, the confirmed new cases will remain flat because there are not enough tests to confirm the other people.

I also thought that deaths would start to spike quicker, but it has been just ober a month since Memorial Day when many people were still being cautious and the Covidiots were less likely to violently erupt.

It is going to get very, very bad and very quickly as big states like Texas and Florida run out of hospital space. Wonder how mass graves of MAGA heads in Texas and Florida will sit with the voters.

You have to remember that deaths trail the infections by roughly 2 weeks. So roughly 2 weeks after a spike in cases you can expect to see a spike in deaths
