Even hard-core Republicans won't send their kids to crowded schools in a pandemic. He's going to lose a lot more support. Parents are very protective of our kids.

(31,261 posts)in public schools. Public schools educate something like 25-27 times more kids. And public schools HAVE to take every child, they cant pick and choose, if a child is in their district and show up at school, they have to take that child in, regardless of his or her problem.

(51,593 posts)The timing of this is going to really hit the voters in the Fall. People will be getting sick once kids go back and we will see an increase in cases worse than we have seen to date. It is as if he wants to lose since the reopening of schools prematurely (for $$$ and not health/safety) will effect tons of families.
He is shooting himself in the foot with this single issue.

(8,739 posts)A lot of his supporters barely can read and pumped out kids for gubment checks. Now they are having to keep them all day and expected to teach them math and reading and feed them. Fuck that, that interferes with their daytime Tee Vee stories. Open up that 5 day a week free day care damn it. MAGA!

(569 posts)They support children being massacred by AR-15s, they don't care what teachers are paid, they abhor children having lunches, I could go on and on...
Trump is the voice of republican voters who love god, guns, and gore. Why would an epidemic upset them.
gollygee
(22,336 posts)They don't care about other people's children - I agree with that - but when push comes to shove and the case rate is very high in late August, they're going to be worried about their kids and upset that they're expected to sacrifice them for Trump's re-election bid. I don't doubt they'd be happy to sacrifice other people's kids.

(778 posts)That each time he did something stupid it would be the end of him. No such luck on anything so far and I doubt this will do it either.
As was said before, most of his morons believe this is a hoax and Sham and unless it hits their own child and their own family, they won't believe it. They will come up with any excuse to protect him no matter what he does. A whole different type of people.
They CDC had somewhat decent rules in place and he blew up and they have now come up with a new set of rules to please him. I wouldn't really call them rules. More like recommendations or gentle reminders.

(935 posts)devolved (is that a word?) into a clusterf_ck. Just when you think it can't get any worse, it does. I'll have to give him props though, he started with the Muslim ban, and the hits just kept on comin'. He wasn't always successful, but that's okay. As long as they see he hates. We've already acknowledged ad nauseam, that a certain percentage of voters will not be moved. He hates who they hate, and that's one powerful feel. One nation under God. I'm just bracing for the grand finale.
