I think RWNJ world is up to their drink the Jonestown Kool-aid moment.

If @GregAbbott_TX tries to shut down the economy again, an option he says is on the table, people should not comply. Keep your businesses open, visit your friends, organize kids play groups. Ignore this petty tyrant. - Matt Rinaldi - former conservative Texas State Representative

They're telling themselves there's a 99.98% survival rate. Not sure there's any science backing that claim nor the long-term side effects of contracting C19, nor the implications of infecting others and the health risks associated with that for the innocent victims, but...

She has talked to the Superintendent of Schools, a couple of Board members, and there is no plan to open schools safely.

The attitude is this is overblown, kids are immune, it's just like the flu, and if you aren't already at death's door you have no worries.

She's been teaching 25 years, loves it, has built up seniority, but she has kids of her own and she says there is no way a teacher can enforce distancing, mask wearing, when you put 35 to 40 kids in a classroom.

She's not rich, but her husband works and will support whatever she does.

I've also talked to a local bartender and a local musician, both who want to work, have opportunities, but don't want to risk being in a bar or party environment.

according to John’s Hopkins your chance of dying is 4.3%. However, this varies by age and we know older people and those with co-morbidities are more at-risk.

However, your chances of ending up in the hospital and then possibly the ICU are much higher. If you only look at the chance of dying you ignore the massive health car costs incurred in a hospital stay which could be burdensome even if you have health insurance. Then there are all the people who seem to have permanent damage to the lungs, heart, kidneys, and other vital organs. You might not die, but you could be permanently disabled.

The bottom line is that the raw survival rate doesn’t adequately encompass all the risks associated with getting COVID19.

So, who knows how many cases there really are in the state?

And, who knows how many actual covid-19 deaths are being attributed to flu, pneumonia, old age, etc.?

I have a feeling that we won't know the extent of this thing until years down the line.

the political consequences of their complicity.

You can't support Trump and sane policies that treat people as anything other than political meat for his grinder at the same time.

You signed up for this, Greggo. As Trump's hydrocephalic base turns on you for contradicting their God-emporer, you'll realize that you threw it all away. You threw your political career away for a mentally-ill, criminal con man who wouldn't pee on you if you were on fire.

Scientists (remember them?) are discovering a plethora of side effects from the corona virus, with serious damage to the heart, lungs, and even the brain. You may get to the other side alive, but you might not be the way before you got this disease.

Trump will go down in history as a mass murderer.

In the old days, a "former" state representative might get a small audience for his/her bullshit in the town newspaper or an interview on the local radio station. Therefore, their bullshit stayed local where it belongs and caused minimal damage.

However, in this day and age, any petty brainwashed tyrant can simply pick up a smart phone and broadcast extremely dangerous rhetoric literally to the entire planet on social media without even getting our of their pajamas and suffer no consequences.

Something is horribly wrong with this picture.
