Trump says states with an uptick in COVID-19 cases are 'going to be fine' and will be back to normal

Coronavirus deaths are once again on the rise amid a surge of confirmed cases in states like Arizona, California, Texas, and Florida — and President Donald Trump claims these regions are "going to be fine."

More than 3.1 million Americans have been infected with the coronavirus and at least 133,906 have died, according to data compiled by The New York Times. Over the past week, the US has experienced an uptick in deaths with the three-day average rising to 600 fatalities, CNBC reported. Though the number falls well below the 2,000 daily death average during the pandemic's peak in April, experts are wary it points to worsening weeks to come.

Still, in an interview with Noticias Telemundo, Trump dismissed concern over the rising rates and said the US is "winning the war" against the coronavirus when asked his opinion on how the US has managed the coronavirus outbreak so far.

"We are winning the war. We have areas that flamed up and they're going to be fine over a period of time," Trump told Noticias Telemundo.

I hope this statement will not come back to haunt him, but I'm afraid it will.

Memorial Day weekend and the masses of ignorant humans who apparently like to play Russian Roulette with their lives and the lives of everyone in their orbit.

We haven't even seen the results of the July 4th weekend - we are still technically within the incubation period. And once we get through the horror of what both of these holidays will bring as far as illness and death - it will be Labor Day weekend. As long as people are behaving the same way, we are going to see this virus win, over and over.

Oh and as for Florida - well, we are about to really get into Hurricane Season on top of it all. Not to be a negative nelly, but imagine us having to deal with a hurricane in the middle of this. No electricity, people without homes, flooding, unsanitary conditions, hospitals at capacity and on and on.

We better pray to whatever or whoever everyone prays to that its a calm hurricane season or Florida is FUC*ED.

Oh, I'm in Orlando.

6. Remember that the data we are seeing today in new cases

is a measure of how many people contracted the virus 3-4 weeks ago. From initial infection to where a person is tested is 10 days to two weeks then another 7-10 days for the results to be returned and recorded. The data from Florida and Texas thus indicates that the virus started spreading rapidly again as soon as they started to re-open. So, the new restrictions placed this week in Texas won’t start to show results until early August; and that assumes the new measures are enough. I don’t see how Florida improves at all since their governors seems determined to keep the state open no matter how bad things get.

Anybody who believes that "they're going to be fine" doesn't understand the exponential growth of spreading it as in doubling each step along the way.

Our population is about 331,000,000. Subtract 3.1 million from that and that leaves the number people who have yet to be infected, but could, theoretically. I just think that, without strict and adequate measures in place and proper management for all states, the ceiling is way out there. Of course, the death rate would follow that.

It is possible then, that this could keep on going, building and spiking for a very long time with repeated waves over a period of one, two or more years. It is not going away because this was botched, or we might have had a better outcome and outlook now.

They won't be fine at all. We we are seeing to many vector fests that show disregard for just how very, very long this can drag out and how really large the infection rates and death tolls could be.

8. I have a feeling that Sept - Dec are going to be the worst months of all.

A summer of people ignoring masks and social distancing, children back in school, flu season, people starting to gather inside again, a false sense of security.

All these things are going to create the perfect storm for a second wave of Covid infections and deaths.

To top it off, we have a president and a federal government who is doing NOTHING whatsoever to try to stem the tide or attempt to reduce infections. They just don't care.

If it comes down to it, I will have no problem being on lockdown again for another 6 months. We are a nation of idiots led by even bigger idiots. It's unfortunate, but a lot more people are going to die from this due to the stupidity of one particular party.
