I rescued an abandoned cat. It took her a month to trust me. When she got to that point, I started getting gifts. I told her that I was quite fine in not receiving them, even though I appreciated the sentiment.

I never got another gift. But I got a lot of love!

2. I live in the country, and took in a one eyed tom cat. Poor fella was beat to hell. Named Scruffy.

I put in a cat door so he could wander while I was at work.

Every day, summer, winter, rain or shine, I would come home and find a neat line of 3 to 6 dead mice on my bed.

Now that is a good friend.

3. One of our favorite kitties brought us a dead mouse one day, dropped it on the porch . . .

stepped back, looked up with a superior air, as though to say, 'There, I got one. You get the next.' And never brought us another ever again.

dinner. This was a few months before I managed to get him inside. I thanked him very gravely, wrapped the little body in a paper napkin, and told him that I would wait just a bit, having just finished dinner.
