My daughter and I went there today. There were no rides, but the animal attractions were open, as were most of the restaurants/food kiosks.
I've seen some posts on DU that are highly critical of the Disney theme parks. I have no information on those, but the Six Flags park we went to in NorCal (Vallejo, to be exact) was EXCELLENT. First of all, you had to make reservations to even get into the park, as numbers were sharply limited. In addition, there were sanitizing stations everywhere, masks were required, and all seating for shows was clearly socially distanced by markings, and were strictly enforced. It was extremely hot today, especially in the afternoon, but the vastly reduced crowds, the well-thought out COVID-19 precautions etc, made it a really pleasant day.
I felt safe there with my daughter (and me). I am not sure when they will open rides, but I am very happy with our experience today.

(19,459 posts)She has a season pass, and they opened a day early for passholders. She described the same things that you experienced. She had the butterfly house practically to herself (much to her delight).
We took our girls there often when we were raising them back in the 80's-90's, when it still emphasized the wildlife part of the park.

(7,715 posts)It was a bit humid in there, but, otherwise, we could have stayed all day. We also loved the dolphin and tiger shows. I know all should be free to live in the wild, but it was nice to see them.
My daughter (and her dad) are now big fans of the park. It was our first time there, and we got the memberships so we plan to come often, as it's relatively close to our home. Great to hear that your wife and daughters are enjoying/enjoyed the place, and that give me comfort to know we did the right thing by getting the membership.
Without the membership, it would have been very expensive. Parking is $30, each admission was $23, food is expensive etc. With the membership and food pass, admission, parking, unlimited free soft drinks, lunch, dinner and a snack and the add on food pass, we paid nothing.
In pre-COVID times, I wouldn't have signed up for the membership, but I don't see our family doing much travelling for at least the rest of 2020 and likely beyond. This seems like a nice place to go every few weeks.
We had a ball without the rides, so I can imagine it will be loads of fun on that blessed day when things get back to normal and the rides open up (likely January 20, 2021)!
