should be going to Red states that see a large positive flow of tax dollars flowing from states that get less than contributed than they send to the Feds.
I'm thinking states like Kentucky that get more back in tax money per tax dollars sent in.

All that money wasted that could be used for food, education, infrastructure, etc.

Can you imagine the yelling if a proposal to close all Germany bases would be?

but rather from a 'how strange it must be to have a foreign country's military base in your own country' sort of perspective.

In other words, how would it feel to us if Japan had a base in Nebraska or Egypt had a base in New Jersey? - it always felt odd to me.

We don't need to just unilaterally "cut" military funding. We need to approach it that we are going to try to STREAMLINE military funding, and look for where there is waste that can be repurposed.

"Cutting military spending" is a death threat to the military, and they will push back hard, and give democrats a label of not supporting the military.

There is HUGE waste in the military that would be better purposed to giving military soldiers and families more BENEFITS, and give military contractors fewer perks.

THAT is how it needs to start. If we just look for waste given to military contractors, that in itself will cut the military budget by billions.

I'm a veteran that supports cutting the defense budget. Republicans have for years tried to label Democrats that way but they are the ones that want to privatize the VA & cut benefits.

When you compare US defense spending to other countries it isn't that controversial. I do agree on eliminating waste and more benefits is fine.
