Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida. Not only is he a world class asshole, he is also incredible stupid. On top of that he is corrupt as hell.
That all adds up to, prison.

(33,162 posts)Person has emerged who represents a counter to the evil.
Where's our Batman, James Bond, or Laura Croft?
Sure, there's Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, or even Michael Bloomberg and they are all fine leaders and competent at what good they set out to do for the world, but, as individual counters to the evil. Not, really.
I guess it was naive of me to believe what I was raised and conditioned to think would happen.
I can only think either the World is simply all evil or there's an active and pervasive force preventing such a figure from emerging.
Somebody, please, talk me down.

(43,049 posts)It depends upon our taking the easy way out and not doing any work.
We liberals say "You gotta do things to make a change..." And we don't. Sounds too much like work.
They say "Relax, you're doing just fine." And that's the easier path.

(7,432 posts)A united, community based response to Trumpy-Boy's evil administration would do just fine. We know what we want, and we can elect people who can respond to our concerns.

(33,162 posts)Because, good would be as good appears. Not as you characterize it as a 'cult'. What you see as a 'community based response' could be seen as a cult or mob by an onlooker as well.
So, fine. Where's this well defined 'community based response'? Who are it's leaders? What is it built around other than a mutual hatred of Agent Orange? What are it's goals once he's gone (which is going to eventually happen even without a unified response) and the next strongman old white guy with guns and God (and the money) on his side takes over?

(10,053 posts)While we have many wacky folks down here doing wild and crazy things at any given time (we are not even embarrassed anymore) Matt Gaetz is a special kind of shame that we bear. Throw DeSatan into the mix and sometimes FL actually feels like hell...
