Trump, America, have proven something beyond any doubt.

You can't fight a pandemic state by state, county by county. You have to fight it at the national level. Everyone has to be on the same page.

Trump has never attempted to put in a national plan in place and we are paying a big price for it. The virus is now out of control in many states and I fear this could spread the virus throughout the country again. Even the states that have gotten the virus somewhat under control could get hit again.

This winter could be America's Dark Age.

No plans come from them how to govern. Example: health care

No plans on how to help the little people, just how to give more taxes away to the rich. Example: Trick down or what I call, 'Pass Through' (birds eat by giving the horse more corn)

They are the party of NO, not the party of YES.

Law and Order means ' Repubs make the laws and then order the folk to follow them.

At least, with Trump the scab has been ripped away exposing their hypocrisy.

How can you be certain you've contracted the generic flu/influenza or you've contracted Covid-19? The medical offices will be swamped. The schools (if opened) will have a line out the door with kids being sent there by their teachers. Or the schools simply will refuse kids with visible symptoms entrance into the building, not be re-admitted until cleared by their pediatricians. And remember that "flu season" runs from October to March. That's five months.

Rather than an antagonist president who encourages defiance of governors. I don't understand why Trump took that approach. He really put a number of nails into his presidency's coffin but more importantly he set the nation backwards. If people are frustrated about school possible not bringing back students on time, they should blame Trump. Honestly. He had his chance to lead and decided he'd rather obstruct.

But they are so used to only being concerned with obtaining and holding onto power that they have completely forgotten how (or why) to govern. In fact, the fast majority of Republicans in the House came to power while Obama was in office and they spend every waking moment as obstructionists, so when they actually had ALL of the power for Trump's first term they literally had no idea what to do which is why almost literally nothing got done the entire time they had all of the power to actually get pretty much anything done.

This of course leads to horrible decision making when the ball is actually in your court and you are forced to do something with it.

In this case, sadly a pandemic hit at a time when American leadership was at its lowest, both in terms of having people in the job that actually want to do it, and it seems a general lack of intellectual capacity and curiosity to understand how to do it.

that is a dream come true twofer for those monsters, by letting this thing run rampart, they get to reduce populations that they view as problems. Some of them have been pining for more White people for three decades, they see a chance to make that happen, so they do nothing.

I have to admit that where I live, African Americans, Hispanics and old people are helping republicans’ efforts by cluelessly not wearing masks or social distancing.

As much as we need to look at responding to COVID-19 on the national rather than the local or state level, it is even more vital to institute a global response. It has to be brought under control EVERYWHERE, or it will keep popping up. New Zealand would be an excellent model to work from.

Sun Jul 12, 2020, 12:03 PM

unless we take real advantage of the blue wave this November and really beef up our whole K-12 system, we will CONTINUE to be in a dark age. Because no republic like ours can continue to exist with a stupid populace. We have to get the holy rollers OUT of the classroom, and put science back in, AND we have to get the TX board of education OUT of the textbook business and put real history, civics, rhetoric, and logic back in.

I mean it only took a couple generations to so dumb us down that we cannot function as a representative democracy. Not to mention the stupid tax cuts, the massive failures in economic policy that created today's class of robber-baron billionaire parasites, and the equally massive corporate corruption. It has to be reversed or else the dark age may continue. Gonna take some real guts for those who take the reins from the Republican crooks.

Plus, FIRST THING, we need to free those children in the for-profit concentration camps, close them down, investigate crimes against humanity and have subsequent trials, and pull out all the stops to reunite those families plus provide culturally appropriate mental health care to those traumatized kids - because they will live with the disgusting evil perpetrated against them by the Trump administration for the rest of their lives and it is the least we can do. I'm also thinking that if we strip the Republican perpetrators and these private for-profit concentration camps of their wealth, that money could be used for reparations.
