I'm a NJ certified teacher who's been a substitute teacher for at least a decade.

I'm not going in both b/c of the solidarity with the striking teachers and b/c of the Covid.

Assault weapons be banned as well.

It is already an unsafe environment even within the covid.

They are having another this Friday. Their list of acceptable standards is nowhere near being met by the states- even in NJ where I teach. The government is requiring some form of in person learning, no mandated masks for students not temp checks for students.

...a couple of days ago. One of his callers was a gentleman from Tennessee, who is a school bus driver. The caller said many drivers in his area are retirees who supplement their social security by driving school buses.

He raised very legitimate questions about what to do in the event of kids puking on the bus, or having nosebleeds, etc, etc. He wanted to know if everyone on the bus would have to quarantine for 2 weeks in such circumstances.

He is not planning on going back to driving a bus.

have nosebleeds, etc., among all of the other people on the school bus (or waiting to/from the bus stop), etc. If they are wanting people to drive buses, etc., shouldn't they have these answers already? I would think a lot of parents won't let their kids ride the buses if unsafe still due to the CV.

Here, in STLMO, I've seen some Mom and Pop bars unable to open fully (or open on a reduced basis) since not all employees have or are willing to return again.

The idiots in the rump administration don't care if that the CV is a deadly disease, and that people can get sick and possibly die from it.

They are literally asking you to perhaps die for them to return to work in unsafe conditions (and I doubt the bus drivers probably have that good of an insurance package, if any). I don't blame the former bus driver in not going back to work as a driver. I think I'd rather tighten my belt (I'm a retiree too) and do w/ a little less than go work in possibly unsafe conditions.

This is the administration that is rolling back unsafe air conditions (the EPA), cutting worker protection on the job, threatens to cut off benefits if workers don't return to work, and still is attempting to end the ACA for millions (despite the raging CV epidemic).

This administration doesn't care about people period. It's obvious.
