On CNN just now Tony Schwartz was opining that Trump does not care about the deaths of tens of thousands of people from COVID-19. Stelter, who with greAt glee brought Schwartz on, Said, and I am nearly quoting verbatim , I dont want to believe that he doesnt care about all these deaths, I dont want to believe it.
His lede was: are the media tiptoeing about Donald Trumps mental condition? And then he goes and does exactly that. I went from a mildly moderate respect for him to 2° above absolute zero. I happen to know a cousin of his who is frankly amazed that he is where he is. But thats a story for another day.
PUTZ deluxe.

(34,111 posts)you had said Smerconish, that guy....whooooo baby. Not ever been my favorite but Stelter I used to kind of like. I do not watch anymore so I do not know anything but I trust your analysis of how he handled this topic. Too bad. Still, if I was going to watch a news network it would be CNN. Some of the worst but some of the best. I just skip the worst...Van Jones. I do love AC but especially Don Lemon but have not seen him in a very long time. Sorry, got carried away. Sometimes I miss listening but usually not.

(82,849 posts)What does the evidence before your very eyes tell you? Yeah, it's a terrible thing to think that the President doesn't care about tens of thousands of deaths, but the facts won't go away just because you don't want to believe them.

You should cover that is there, not try to find some way to inject another point of view when that point of view isn't legitimate.
Being President doesn't mean you are a good person. Clearly you can be President and be an absolute monster, like Trump. Look at what is directly in front of you. The only think he cares about is that he look good. The only reason he cares about Coronavirus deaths is that he think they make him look bad. He also doesn't have the ability to form a plan to actually address the crisis, so he'd rather just convince everyone that it doesn't exist.
