4. A Long Time Lie About Golf

Deals don't get done on the course. That's made up.
Even in the cases where it's claimed to be relationship building, it's extraordinarily likely the deal would get completed without the golf relationship.
A group of execs in a conference room would get a deal done, with pizza brought in for lunch.
And, if the 2 sides were miles apart, 4 hours on the golf course isn't going to get both sides to the middle, as if by magic.
As an avid golfer, I have no problem with building relationships that way, but a round of golf is not going to be the difference between reaching agreement or not.
It's merely a pompous excuse for including golf on the company dime.
