Texas Poll Puts Biden Up 5 Points As He Is Pressured To Invest In The Newly Competitive State
A new poll puts former Vice President Joe Biden 5 points over President Trump in Texas–a historically deep red state that has rapidly shifted towards Democrats in recent years–as pressure mounts from Democrats for the Biden campaign to invest time and money there.
The poll of 1,677 likely voters, conducted by University of Texas at Tyler and the Dallas Morning News, put Biden at 48% and Trump at 43% in Texas, which Trump won by 9 points in 2016.
That’s up from a 1-point lead for Biden in a February poll from UT Tyler, which had him at 47% to Trump’s 46%.
Trump’s approval rating in the Lone Star State has plunged further underwater since February, going from a 3-point deficit to an 8-point deficit, while his approval on coronavirus is down by 10 points, with 51% disapproval to 41% approval.
