Election 2020: Historians will likely rank Trump as one of the worst presidents

Poll of the week: A new Gallup poll puts President Donald Trump's approval rating at 38%. His disapproval rating stands at 57%.

The average poll similarly shows Trump's approval rating hovering around 40%, while his disapproval rating is above 55%.

What's the point: Trump's approval rating isn't getting any better. In the polls, he is continuing to lose to former Vice President Joe Biden by double-digits. Trump could win a second term, but there is no clear path to doing so.

If Trump does go on to lose in November, he doesn't just need to worry about losing to Biden. Trump needs to worry about the fact that the history books are probably going to put him down as a below average president, if not one of the worst.

He's the worst of my time and I lived through Nixon and Bush II.

Even Nixon did some good things, the environment, had a health care plan. Trump is head and shoulders the worst on any possible scale, even the presidential historians we see on TV have said so.

Turd will either be remembered as our worst President, or as our last one.

VOTE!

How anyone could vote for this traitor after all we've learned means that that they're lost to all facts and reason.

But this is a good place. Can anyone recall *any president* having this much contempt towards the American populace?

I don't think it's in doubt that Trump is the worst president ever.

I think Barr must have a good shot at being the worst Attorney General ever, though I don't know that much about them to rule out some other corrupt tool.

Pence is bad, but as VP he has competition from Burr, who killed Alexander Hamilton, and was charged with treason after his term (though acquitted), and Spiro Agnew, who was convicted of cheating on his taxes. And Cheney shot a man in the face, and was the architect of the Iraq invasion. John Calhoun set the scene for the Civil War. Anyone else? Dan Quayle wasn't up to the job, but didn't come across as evil (well, no more than the typical Republican politician).

Pompeo as Secretary of State hasn't done anything specifically awful in comparison to Trump; his unswerving support for Trump is probably the worst thing he does. Kissinger was SoS, but his most evil acts were probably as National Security Adviser, before he became SoS in Sept 1973.

DeVos could well be the worst ever Education Secretary, because it's rare to get anyone outstandingly evil there. It's only been a cabinet position since 1979, so there's not much competition.

If you expand to the cabinet members who have already had to resign in disgrace, you could probably include a few more. Suggestions?

It will be an absolute barrage of mockery. I don't think Trump grasps that at all.

Then the only way he could possibly de-attach is by regaining the presidency in 2024. That's why it is guaranteed he will try. Trump hates humiliation above all.
