these people are truly monsters who walk among us, to be so evil, so cunning, so cold that money and only money determines their every life move.

(24,653 posts)I'm am so angered by the narrow focus on the students (and I'm a parent with a third child still in school).
The children cannot go to school unless adults are there to teach, administrate, clean, serve food, provide security, etc. They aren't sacrificing just children. They are sacrificing adults in the schools and the families they return home too. How hard is this to wrap their fucking brains around?

(2,120 posts)no health insurance and no unions to protect workers. So sacrificial and disposable really sums it up.

(2,580 posts)to sending her grand kids to public schools. That would be a start at building credibility. Think Melania would send Barron to mix with the "little people"-doubt it.

(54,770 posts)Assuming half those kids are in right wing homes, that's a significant problem to me. Some other parents are equipped to teach their kids or help them with personal attention to supplement on-line instruction.
There are alternatives to closed vs. open. For example, having kids attend for say two days a week might work in some areas. Investment in disinfecting technology is another way to minimize risk.
Kids lost two or three months this spring, probably haven't interacted with others as much during the summer, etc. How much longer can we afford to just say the schools should stay closed?
I don't have the answers, but it is not as simple as "kids will die if we reopen."
