Beans, statues and the confederacy as symbols of the race and culture war that Trump is desperately trying to stoke, while for the average person out there, coping in an out of control pandemic - economically and safety wise is pretty much all they have time for and Trump is not in any way reflecting the priories of the general public. Surprise! People are saying he has lost it, but surely the point is that he never had it? I know that I have written many an OP delighting in the Madness of King Trump as he seemed to go all in George III but I am no longer of the opinion that what we are witness to is an unravelling, I think it is more akin to an unveiling. The awful that gets more and more awful, and hell what a week it has been on so many levels of awful, is Trump, when under ever increasing pressure, showing the world exactly who he is. This is Trump - the not very effective smoke and mirrors of the last 3 years have been cracked asunder by 2020 - and the gibbering, nasty race war stoking, incoherent, incompetent fucker standing before us is the psychopath that is Trump. He is not unravelling, he is exposing the very real he, in a way that makes it impossible for anyone, unless you are part of the unrepentant racist underbelly of MAGA, to ignore exactly what he is. This is he.

(10,013 posts)Stress aggravates cognitive thinking, and the fact that things have not been going well for Trump puts a lot of stress on a man who convinces himself that he is a genius and great at everything. He has also not been able to get his fix of adulation from fans at his rallies. I wonder if he also fears he has dementia since his father did. That, too, would add stress and maybe explain his recent focus on the test he claims to have taken.
Whatever the reason, his cognitive decline has been obvious for quite some time. But hes always been a despicable person, and it shows.

No it's not an unravelling, it's not an unveiling, it's a public awakening. The media didn't vet this guy along the way, the Deep State if it exists didn't do its job, Obama didn't confront McConnell on several fronts - Merrick Garland was a test to see what Mitch could get away with, how far he could push Obama, and set up the silence on Russia. All the factors fell into place. It was a war on the rule of law as it existed, on Bannon's regulatory nanny state, on sovereignty. All who wanted a piece of it gone signed on. Oligarchs, corporations, polluters, Fundies ... it was a revolt by Leviathans ... even Thomas Hobbes would understand that.

(17,986 posts)The Media is still not doing a very good job. Every morning when I wake up, settle with my coffee the refrain is over and over an endless repeat of Trump and his lying distractions ,projections, that Biden is losing it.
No, the Media is not our friend, especially MSNBC. Oh, they tut tut and mutter, but they still repeat Trump lies over and over.
CNN or reruns when I am home.
PS, I loved how Wolf Blitzer cut his tirade and lies short.

(21,360 posts)CNN has Don Lemon, that's it for me. Neither network is liberal. The biggest lie out there is that the MSM is liberal.
I don't think it matters with Trump. I mean the MSM was all over his affair with Stormy Daniels. You tell me with a straight face that if Barack Obama had raw dogged a porn star and paid her 130,000 dollars to keep her quiet that he wouldn't have been immediately impeached and most Democrats would have voted for impeachment.
It isn't just Trump, we have Republicans in Congress and Republican voters who are just like Trump, Trump is just more vocal.

The rest just seem to be repeats.
I found a new series called Cedar Cove based on Debbie McComer books on Hallmark.

(22,037 posts)Trump has always been an ignorant, loud-mouthed fool who fails at every endeavor. As a New Yorker, I've been hearing his bullshit since the 1980s and it has disgusted me that so many people couldn't see him for the disaster he is.
Forget about his likely dementia. Trump has always been a liar and a cheater. He has rarely made sense although he used to be a tiny bit more articulate.
In her book, Mary Trump makes the observation that, in the normal world, people like her uncle would be under serious psychological care. In Trump's case, she writes, he lives in a self-created bubble where everyone serves him and bolsters his ego. He has separated himself from true reality. In fact, if he were institutionalized, in many ways he would have a similar insulation from reality. And Trump has lived his whole life like that!
No wonder he lacks empathy.
No wonder he believes his BS.
No wonder he's an idiot.
