His narcissism aside, "in the end he's just a scared little boy."

That is how Mary Trump ended her book about Shithole. It was a fantastic book, but the truth is Shithole refused to grow up and deal with his emotionally abusive family. He's still guilty as hell for all his crimes, and it's clear Dr. Mary Trump agrees. But she does have a unique understanding of the family pathology that created this monster.

I said wolves originally but wolves are wonderful, family oriented creatures. They’re bloodthirsty, I’ll-or-be-killed monsters, as willing to turn on one another as anyone.
