Is that an option? SWAT would be the most heavily armed force at their disposal.

(6,688 posts)I bought a bike helmet after they threw that old man down over a month ago. I have not been in crowds yet because of Corona, but if DJT brings this madness near me, then I will risk it.

The Portland PD has issues. I've heard they are worse than most police forces.

11. their vehicles are unmarked....
.... And their uniforms have no noticeable identification. The chief of police needs to take 10 police cars, and two SWAT teams, surround them, pull them out of the vehicles, disarm them, put them on the ground, and demand proper identification, and the name of the person, persons, or agency that authorized their actions. They are no different then a group of anti-government militia types seeking vigilante justice. If they do have identification, and proper authorization, inform them that as long as they present themselves as they have at the time of the current shakedown, this exact action will take place again. Proper authorities will repeat the demands for proper identification and authorization because.... "How do we tell if it's you or not? Could be a copycat group, but we won't know until proper procedures are followed."
That's what I would do if I was the mayor or the chief of police, and be damned the consequences. Authorization or not, as long as these people are unidentifiable by local authorities, they should be subject to detainment.

(16,200 posts)Even federal employees are subject to state laws. If the law directly interferes with a lawful federal action the court will toss the charges and order the state to stop.
However SWAT teams are usually manned by authoritarian types and they might refuse to carry out the order.
