Something fishy about the 3 people on a fishing trip get massacred story.

This was reported yesterday on DU and something kept nagging at me during the day. In brief, three friends go on a fishing expedition in Central Florida and though all three were beaten and killed, one man lived long enough to call his dad, who lived 10 minutes away. The father comes running, the son was badly injured and has time to talk to his dad, but the dad, in his haste to get to the fishing spot, forgot his phone at home. So he has to drive to a nearby convenience store to call for help. By the time he gets back, his son is dead.

Does not compute. Why didn't he use his son's phone? I don't think you need a password to call 911.

And didn’t know you could call 911 without unlocking the phone. Those of us in the older demographic aren’t as bonded to our phones as younger people.

Call 911 with no password? But if the son could still talk he could have said the password.

Also after the trauma he’d been through, maybe that’s why he didn’t think to call 911.

I can understand why he may not have used his son's phone since as others have said, he didn't know he could use it .

But we don't know many things so these things are not necessarily suspicious.

and stopped to call on the way to the scene.....of course, that means he could have call 911 before he left the house. You do not always think straight in those situations. I find it weird the guys were beaten up and murdered. Were they really going fishing? What was going on?

but when I think about wanting to take a picture in am emergency I wish I had my Nikon with me. I don't think about the iPhone. When I needed to call the fire dept recently I ran about looking for a desk phone not the iPhone in my pocket. Since I am retired I don't use it enough to remember it.

I wondered if the men accidentally stumbled into a drug situation. One of the men arrived first and was apparently murdered at that point. This is according to the sheriff. Then the other two arrived a short time later. By the sheriff’s narrative, all three were beaten and then shot. So it sounds as if the murderers (sheriff says it was likely more than one) knew these men and may have had a motive to kill them. Maybe someone who knew they were planning to go fishing that night? Or maybe the men were participating in a drug deal that went bad? Lots of questions.

Something doesn’t quite make sense but the truth will come out. The Sheriff said they’re offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest. Money talks. So there’s that.
