Biden labels Trump first racist U.S. president

(Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden labeled Donald Trump on Wednesday the first racist to become U.S. president in remarks his opponent's re-election campaign quickly rebuked.

Biden, who was vice president under Barack Obama, the first Black U.S. president, fielded a question at a Service Employees International Union roundtable from a healthcare worker concerned about the Republican president calling the coronavirus pandemic the "China virus."

He responded by saying it was "absolutely sickening" how Trump "deals with people based on the color of their skin, their national origin, where they're from."

He added: "No sitting president's ever done this. Never, never, never. No Republican president has done this. No Democratic president. We've had racists, and they've existed, and they've tried to get elected president. He's the first one that has."

I'd hardly say he's the first racist president but definitely the most recent and perhaps the most outspoken.

Trump is one of the most cravenly racist, though Jackson and Wilson give him a run for his money.

Imagine where we would be without his racist policies?

That his racist actions were not part of what is taught in schools is a perfect example of how American history has been whitewashed to get rid of the large amounts of immoral acts.

I was taught that Jackson and Wilson were great men of charity. But in reality, both basically tried to cancel out a whole group of Americans. I was taught that Washington and Jefferson were gods, nothing about extracting teeth of slaves to make false teeth, or of sleeping with female slaves who could not turn them down and not be harmed.

And who is demanding an apology? The point stands he is calling trump a racist. That he didn’t eloquently state it is somehow deserving of an apology?

We have had racist Presidents before. Trump is the first that is brazenly racist. Others have been silently racist and done damage to the country due to their racism.

Since the 1960's or so they've had to hide it better.

There have been numerous "racist" presidents in our history. Quite a few, to be sure.

I do think thats what he was trying to say. And of course we will have people on the left crucifying him for it and demanding an apology so that we can weaken our own candidate.
