(25,251 posts)I wonder how the call goes?
Hi - Mr. CEO. This is Jarad Kushner. Do you know that your company is preventing us from illegally spamming the American People? That's got to stop or you'll find a horse head in your bed.

(32,017 posts)I would feel quite uncomfortable on the receiving end of that call, but I am certain that I would record it.

(2,249 posts)I worked at a marketing agency.
Once, we had a business-to-business campaign for a client. That included using existing clients' FAX numbers for an up-sell opportunity. This was after CAN-SPAM was enacted. We had the opt-out and all that only AFTER they received the marketing piece.
Some ambitious lawyer got wind of this and we were sued for ONE FAX being sent to office. They were asking for millions in damages because they said they never gave us permission to send them marketing messages, which was tue. That was a fail on our part. We ended up settling for $250K to make it go away. We were a small agency and it was a financial hit, but we came through it.
My point here is, who the HELL does Jared Kushner think he is as to be able to get away this? What ARROGANCE does it take to call the CEOs of the major telcoms and ask them to look the other way and break the law? Jared, NOBODY WANTS YOUR UNSOLICTED LYING MESSAGES!!
Did you know each separate email in violation of the CAN-SPAM Act is subject to penalties of up to $43,280?

(21,716 posts)I used to, but changed my plan. but I sure would be pissed if I was paying by text and they were texting me.
I could be wrong on if they even still offer that plan.

(10,885 posts)That was just a forerunner to see if they COULD make such a transmission happen. We were right to be suspicious then, as we are now.
No one wants to pay for Chump's messages to come through on private lines.
