Trump always suggests that the Dems will take away the people's guns - and now - with his goons - he could and will be accused of doing just that.

It will be interesting to watch what happens.

If this situation is handled cleverly - that suggestion of rights and guns being taken away from these gun nuts - can put doubt and fear in their heads. We need to get into their heads with that possibility happening to them.

It they see anything that smacks of Trumps goons taking away guns from the gangs of Chicago (which in my mind is a good thing to stop the senseless killings that is going on in this city) - subliminally they will get the message that if it can happen to them(gangs)- it's not a big leap - that it could also happen to us (gun nuts).

That would require tactics much more invasive and unconstitutional than the "stop and frisk" formerly employed in New York.

Black market guns are indeed a HUGE problem in Chicago. Rightwingers like to argue that stricter gun control laws in the city and the state of Illinois prove that gun control laws don't work, but they totally neglect the fact that just across the border in Indiana where the laws are much more lax is a pipeline for black market guns to the streets of Chicago.

The solution (aside from addressing the root causes of poverty and violence) is to strangle that supply line by having strict nationwide gun control laws, fully funded and enforced. YES WE CAN preserve 2nd Amendment rights for law abiding citizens while reducing violent crimes committed with illicit firearms.

But, of course, that is not the real agenda at work here. Stoking fear, hatred, and divisiveness is the core strategy of the POT (Party Of Trump). They have to convince their voting base that any attempt to curtail the flood of illegally sold firearms in America is tantamount to abolishing the 2nd Amendment and prying their precious guns from their cold dead tiny hands.

Neither they nor Trump care a whit about Chicago street gangs killing each other along with innocent bystanders in black neighborhoods.

This is not about law & order.

It is political theater.
