Ron DeSantis, meet The Bus.

Loyalty is a one way street for trump but you knew that, Governor.

DeSantis’ White House cover erodes as coronavirus spreads in Florida

The Republican governor aligned with Trump’s philosophy about fully opening schools and not mandating masks but is now getting flack.

TALLAHASSEE — Gov. Ron DeSantis has followed President Donald Trump’s lead for months while he waged a local battle against the coronavirus in Florida. That loyalty was rewarded with scorn from the White House this week as scrutiny on the state’s handling of Covid-19 ratchets up in the final months of the presidential campaign.

Twice in two days, Trump and his aides have put the squeeze on DeSantis, a fellow Republican. “Florida is in a little tough, or a big tough, position,” Trump told reporters this week.

... Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway followed the president’s blunt assessment with her own criticism on Wednesday of states that have become hotspots, saying some businesses — specifically nightlife — opened too soon and contributed to the surge in infections.

“They opened up some of the industries too quickly, like bars,” she said to reporters. “The governors wanted complete latitude over when they would open their states, they pushed back heavily ... Republicans and Democrats, when it was falsely rumored that the president was going to be in charge of opening the states.

Conway didn't call out Florida directly, but her comments clearly included the state, which reopened bars to partial capacity in early June and DeSantis soon derided as fostering “dance party USA.” On Tuesday, Florida reported 9,752 new cases, and a 10.5 percent positivity rate.

...you never know where he is going to strike next. He should send federal troops to the governor's office in Florida!

I pray we can message this stuff right. Maybe we can rent some of the Lincoln Project media team. They seem to put the spear tip where it needs to be.

Trump and his administration openly pushed for states to reopen, and I'm sure behind the scenes they did as well. Sure they may have not been in control of the reopening but they damn sure put pressure on. The administration was making a calculated decision: if states opened and the numbers dropped they would take full credit, but if the numbers climbed they could lay the blame squarely on the governors. This is the direct effect of government without national leadership

no matter how many times Foxnews or Conway lies about it.

Never before in our history do we have a reality disconnect like we have now. You can't hide death forever, the numbers are too great and too many families involved
