Are the men and women of DU going to stop referring to women as bitches if they "behave poorly".
Have we decided that it is NEVER okay to call a woman a bitch in DU?

(6,291 posts)I dislike name calling in general. Names for women are more prevalent than for men. Like it or not calling a woman a bitch has no equivalent for a man.

(9,952 posts)two totally different levels of outrage.
It has now become, any woman that speaks up, may be deemed a Karen, if someone chooses to be outraged. We have had fun with it, but it does and well do its damage. And with research, one finds that a disgruntle man was pissed at his X and getting back at her. That is how powerfully the Karen thing has taken off and where it comes from.

(31,261 posts)I know that in popular culture, it has morphed to sometime mean something than its original human directed use, but I dont care, its original use when applied to human beings is enough of a turnoff for me that I wont even utter or write it.

(9,952 posts)I think I am the only one having that conversation about Democrat's hypocrisy. I see it on FB all the time, hooked up to so many Democratic site and when I call it, consistently I have a handful of people agree with me while the arguments in reply is women now own that word (who knows what that means) and it is not gender specific anymore, and women use that word.
I am curious the intellectual discussion, or disconnect on this, personally so thank you for this thread. It has been a shake my head, with amusement kind of morning.

(6,291 posts)And women who were conditioned to think it is ok. Go along to get along. It isn't right. It isn't funny. It is dismissive to women. It diminishes women makes what they do seem trivial. Anytime that is allowed it makes it more difficult for other women.

One of my fondest childhood memories, although I didn't know it would be at the time, was my mom getting into a bitch fight with a Catholic Bishop.
It was glorious. I was also near piss-my-pants terrified.
I've always lived with women (and a few men) who call themselves the B-word but it's not mine to call anyone that.

(6,913 posts)Weve had this discussion before. People who use words you dont like can be ignored, can be called out, can be argued with.
