De Blasio says Blue Lives Matter can’t paint street mural outside of NYPD headquarters; Blue Lives Matter says we’ll see you in court

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Mayor Bill de Blasio says he won’t allow groups like Blue Lives Matter to paint messages of their own on city streets after commissioning “Black Lives Matter” street murals throughout the five boroughs.

But the founder of Blue Lives Matter NYC Joe Imperatrice told Advance/SILive.com he isn’t going to let this slide and plans to sue the city to allow them to paint “Blue Lives Matter” near NYPD headquarters in Lower Manhattan.

Imperatrice said the police advocacy group hired a constitutional lawyer to help them “just in case [de Blasio] played that game,” after they asked the city for permission to paint the message outside of One Police Plaza.

The Blue Lives Matter founder said the blue uniform is worn by cops of all different backgrounds who are ”taken advantage of and physically and verbally” on a daily basis and wanted to show their solidarity with the men and women of the NYPD by painting a Blue Lives Matter street mural near the NYPD headquarters.

They can take it off at will, and wear any color they choose. Black people can't do that, not that they would want to.

It's not equivalent.

they choose to work as police officers. Recently it seems that a lot of them choose that profession because it allows them to abuse and even kill people, but that's neither here nor there.

The fact is: Black people can not take off their skin at the end of the day.

They can't just quit being Black because it's too much hassle.

Cops choose their lives and then they choose how they deal with the public. Seems a lot of them choose poorly lately.

Whatever negative the right thinks of 'Black Lives Matter' is also applicable to 'Blue Lives Matter'.

The only difference is the color.

Courts frown upon governments engaging in viewpoint discrimination.
