as he violates law after law and shreds the Constitution.
What makes anyone think he will be stopped when he declares the election invalid and he will remain President?

(12,286 posts)Put his goons in swing states in dem districts and prevent people from voting in person and simultaneously have his post master general lose
millions of mail in ballots.
If there is an election trump loses massively.
So ergo there wont be an election.
There will be of course, just not everywhere for everyone.
Close enough for him to steal. Close enough for the courts to give it to him.

Getting from November 3rd to January 20th? That might be a little bit tricky.

(33,587 posts)we might not get to Biden's inauguration if Trump refuses to accept the results.
I am saying the still sitting GOP Senate and all the agencies he has staffed with loyalist will help- keep him there.

(18,486 posts)If electors in those states aren't certified, the president will be chosen by a majority of the states who DO certify their electors, per the 12th Amendment.
"The person having the greatest Number of votes for President, shall be the President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of Electors appointed."
It actually will work to the Republicans' disadvantage not to appoint electors since it would reduce the number of votes for Trump and lower the number of electoral votes Biden needs to get a majority.

(9,670 posts)After watching him wreak havoc for nearly 4 years, it's dangerously irresponsible to assume that a huge Democratic turnout in November will do anything but set him up for the con of his life. He is the most dangerous man on the planet and time has proven that our venerable Constitution is no match for his unprincipled shenanigans.
I_UndergroundPanther
(12,480 posts)Unthinkable whether he wins or not. He is too dangerous and destructive to remain in office,we may have to get rid of him and his followers for the sake of our country.
It may come down to this.
Forced out regardless,or "other things".
If you don't want to live under fascism you may have to do things in other times would be unjustified. There is no law he won't break,so why should we accept being bound by it even as the country crashes, people starve and die. True empathy for each others well being sometimes calls for us to say no more out of you,you shitstain and back that no up with force regardless of the magats whining and the media acting like upset chickens or anything else.
Sometimes the seemingly immoral thing you must do is the most caring thing you can do for a country you love..

(12,480 posts)I am saying sometimes what would be wrong in other circumstances
Might be morally correct in another situation.
I am for moral flexibility when dealing with someone who seeks to destroy the country and you.
Rigid moral limits when dealing with someone without moral limits interfere with doing the moral thing that needs to be done.
sarisataka
(18,663 posts)Morality and legality
There is really no such thing as moral flexibility. That is a term you are using to self justify doing something you know as a moral but are willing to do it anyway.
For example you may say I am against torture but in certain situations water boarding is OK. Using the lowest common denominator you really do believe torture is acceptable, in certain situations. You are justifying it with moral flexibility.
Legality it's a separate issue that really has no direct bearing on morality. Most of our laws encourage moral behavior however there are actions which could be just and moral but are illegal and vice versa. In certain situations you may break a law in order to do a moral thing.

Unless something is done to put him in his place soon, I have no doubt he will do somthing that will allow him to stay in office for another 4 years or more, regardless of whether it is legal.

You think everyone has tried to stop him when that isn't true.
he gets away with things becsuse he has people that let him get away with it.
I agree with you. It is the GOP Senate and the agencies his cronies control that are allowing him to do this.
SCOTUS as well.
