The Postal Service is telling Americans to give every ballot 14 days round trip. That means if you want to vote by mail, and you want to feel good about your vote being counted, Election Day is not November 3.
Election Day is Tuesday October 20th.
Spread the word.

(21,596 posts)My county had 5 collection boxes, including one in the centrally located downtown Board of Elections office. All locations were accessible by car, bus, sidewalks, and/or bike routes. All locations were handicap accessible.

(102,378 posts)which you then drop off EARLY (as soon as you receive it) at an official receiving point. Every ballot includes a list of when/where you can personally drop them off. Even those at city/county recreational facilities, churches, police precincts and elsewhere are locked and guarded by official observers. I intend to complete my ballot the day it hits the mailbox and to drive it to the county building that houses the Elections office and City/County Recorder.
Voting in person increases your risk for COVID-19. So, if that is your only option, rather than an early absentee paper ballot then yes, go in person to vote, but EARLY, EARLY, EARLY.

(13,140 posts)and I think the option is available in most cities. Ive done it many times and there are a lot less people and less time is needed.

(102,378 posts)personally in an official secured and observed locked box drop-off then early voting is indeed the best option.

(44,974 posts)In OH, there is only one early voting location per county. That means a lot of people trying to early vote in large counties.

These places are not being used during the pandemic.

(44,974 posts)Normally it's mostly easier to vote on election day in OH, because many voting places will be open. Mostly, because in large cities election day places still can get pretty crowded.
But who knows what will happen in November, with pandemic going on.

(44,974 posts)There is only one place to vote per county. Which makes it difficult to vote in large counties (cause large counties have a lot of people, and one place per county doesn't really cut it). States like TX have many early voting places. This is not the case in OH.

Wife and I have decided that we will vote in person and vote early at our local library. Unless, of course, DeSantis decides early voting is too dangerous and has early voting cancelled. He'd have to see what Trump wants first.
Voting in person. Waited four long years For this moment.

(42,288 posts)We can go on-line and see what the status of a ballot is--mailed, received, accepted---and rest assured that it will be counted. Other states may, as well.

The Repubs are believed to have screwed up big time by not making a deal months ago when they were much more powerful, instead of failing to foresee the course of this pandemic. They of course would want widespread evictions for their expected devastating effect on voting by those displaced. They need to be able to play their usual viciously corrupt hard ball, but this close to the election it's their balls in the Democrats' vice, with blame falling squarely on them if they made it happen now.
