I vote no. He will invoke the insurrection act.
What do you think?

(58,785 posts)or strong man. He's used to swaddling himself safe from the effects of loss with his wealth, and he can't do that now. He'll eventually fly off in the traditional helicopter and yap afterward from a safe distance, as is his usual when avoiding even incredibly smaller confrontations.
If the vote's close enough to give him hope and some of his ass-whisperers with a lot more backbone, like Putin, inspiration,...
What I can't guess at is what the traitorous corrupt Republican congressional leaders, and our own, might do, because they could do a lot as far as settling his hash, or possibly ours, is concerned. If the Repubs lost their majorities, they might feel they had nothing to lose and/or a lot to do. I'm clueless.
But either way I mostly believe we will manage a peaceful if disturbing and anxious transition of power. Our government has stood much stronger against these attacks than many though it would.

(26,045 posts)...but he also knows that, the second he turns over power, he's going to be subject to a multitude of prosecutions (including state ones that the federal government can't do anything about) that have a real probability of landing him behind bars for the rest of his life. So, although he might not be brave or strong, I think he's going to realize that his only chance to avoid that fate is to remain in the White House permanently, by whatever means possible. And, if that means bringing American democracy to an end...when has he ever not been willing to sacrifice others for his own benefit?

(244 posts)I was watching Rachell/Ali last night and they, like a growing number of media outlets, discussed the very real threat that Trump might try to stay and contest the election. He seems to be laying the groundwork by undermining confidence in voting and deploying federal troopers. We need to think about this ahead of time.

How he leaves is up to him - either of his own volition, or being forcibly removed.

(11,885 posts)In reality he's a coward , and will go on his own, then start his accusations and claims against past presidents making all sort of crazy claims, then say to his followers the election was stolen from him and them. That is if he doesn't flee from office first fearing he'll be indicted , which he will be, on many crimes.

(82,849 posts)He will kick the floor with his little feet. He will pound the floor with his little fists. He will rage and cry and keep repeating "not fair" because he lost again. Some poor schlubs will have to come and physically remove him. Suggestion: Bring your heavy duty gurney.
