Any epidemiologists or virologists here?
There is so much misinformation out there it's becoming mind-boggling. Plus, as a non-scientist, it makes everything seem even more confusing when people start pointing to this study or that study and then the specifics of that study are debated, yada, yada.
I'm specifically curious this morning about the whole hydroxychloroquine + Z-pak + zinc debate globally.
If you have anyone you follow to keep track of developments, understanding the scientific process is just that -- A PROCESS -- I'm sure I'm not alone in appreciating such guidance.
I'm looking for info in addition to WHO and CDC statements and recommendations.
Thanks.
EDIT TO ADD: All of this info also seems to fall into 3 categories: prevention, early-stage treatment, late-stage treatment, and of course the whole "high-risk patient" vs other patients is in play.
EDIT #2: I just saw that docs (will start researching their credentials but they're probably QAnon people) had a press conference yesterday touting the above combo. That's not why I asked about it; it's because medical personnel I tend to trust have mentioned that previously, curious about its efficacy and wanting to know more. UPDATE: I see the video re: these "America's Frontline Doctors" was made by Breitbart. That's all we need to know.

All of these are good. If there were one in particular I'd recommend, it's Andy Slavitt. Dr Eric Ding would be the second one, if I could only recommend two of them.

(10,054 posts)so our local news stations (and local papers) have a handful of local experts that are their "go to" guy/gal for sharing medical info in layman's terms - my favorite is Dr. Aileen Marty.

(82,849 posts)I realize the CDC numbers are suspect to a lot of people, and under this administration, that distrust has been earned. However, a lot of folks set store by the CDC if for no other reason than inertia: CDC has been trustworthy in the past, it's trustworthy now. I find that citing the CDC tends to make the hoaxsters and deniers scupper away like crabs at high tide.
