TWICE this week while commenting on some anti-Obama posts on facebook, I have had to explain to some loyal Obama and Democrat hating Republican voter that the debt and deficit are not the same thing. Give it a try yourself. Tell them the deficit has gone down to which they will probably call you a liar and might even retrieve a link explaining what the debt was at the end of the Bush administration and what it is now.
