Trump Doesn't Like What He Sees in the Crystal Ball

By Gail Collins and Bret Stephens, New York Times

Bret Stephens: Gail, some of our readers may not know that, in addition to all of your journalism at The Times, you’re also the author of several distinguished works of history. Put on your historian’s hat and tell us what you think of Donald Trump’s tweet suggesting we delay the election.

Gail Collins: Bret, I probably know more about the presidency of William Henry Harrison. But I’m pretty sure our readers aren’t having trouble figuring out how to react to a president, trailing in the polls, suddenly suggesting we put off voting.

Bret: I was impressed and pleasantly surprised by the Op-Ed we ran from Steven Calabresi, a law professor and one of the founders of the conservative Federalist Society, who called Trump’s tweet “fascistic” and “itself grounds for the president’s immediate impeachment again by the House of Representatives and his removal from office by the Senate.”

Gail: You told me once you thought Trump was too cowardly to actually try to pull off a coup. I can’t tell you how much comfort I’ve been taking from that thought.

So — just checking — is that still your opinion?

Without PUtin & FBI's (Comey's) help, drumpf wouldn't have won 2016. Now he's counting on that playbook of Russian hacking, greatly beefed up voter suppression & this time added deliberate non delivery of ballots, and Barr lies about Biden supplied by Russia via Ukraine which will be revealed at the last minute. There's also the have pandemic raging so polling places in blue cities in red states are all closed and his goons with guns can disrupt the 8 hours long frustration & severe health risk that is planned. That way if things are going against him, he can cite the violence (this is what he wants, anyway) to declare a national emergency, martial law & stop the election. Who would stop this, not the military, he is their CIC.

We need total dedication to voting & GOTV to win, a #BLUETSUNAMI if you will. We can do it, we can overcome their efforts with such a flood of votes it overwhelms their suppression tactics if we refuse to back down & all work togeher to bring down this existential threat to our way of life, rw fascism as embodied in Cheetolini.

I'm convinced he thought he'd lose in 2016. But all the cheating that surrounded him worked (barely)

So, who knows what will happen in November.
