So my district is opening under a hybrid model after 3 weeks of all remote

A few weeks ago my district had decided on hybrid (the least restrictive option my state allows) instruction. It was going to start on 17 August. Now it will be 8 September. The original vote was held on 20 July at a meeting at which they were only supposed to discuss this not vote on it. But one member had a vacation scheduled the next week so she had a fit until a vote was held. It passed 5 to 2 (every white member for, every Black one against). Fast forward to 3 August. The regular board meeting was supposed to have an update on the school opening plan but we are also hiring a superintendent so they led with that after a closed session and then had a recess due to a hurricane coming. Well one of the Black members was going to be out of town today and asked to have a say. Too bad so sad is what he was told. So today we had our vote, without him. It was 4 to 2 in favor of waiting 3 weeks to do the hybrid after they were told that teachers aren't ready since they changed the platform on which we will teach, we don't have enough students for the online academy we have to have for students who don't want to attend in person, and don't have enough devices for both students who will be remote and those in school. They wanted 9 weeks, we are getting 3. Oh, and we don't have all the cleaning supplies yet either. The same woman who insisted on the vote on the 20th, rudely cut off debate today and refused to give any more time than 3 weeks. She also blamed kids being home for an increase in abortion. Then at the end of the meeting she had this long winded comment in which she called people who opposed her Jesus haters and blamed Gov Cooper for the fact she couldn't open us up full time face to face. So off to work I go.

I came of age as a gay man in the 1980's so I avoided one pandemic and fully intend to avoid this one too while living my life. Pandemics 0 dsc 2.
