More than 100 Mississippi students quarantined after classmates tested positive for COVID-19 shortly

The Hill

Six students and a staff member in a Mississippi school district have tested positive for COVID-19 just weeks after in-person classes resumed, resulting in the quarantine of more than 100 others who had close contact with them.

The Corinth School District confirmed Wednesday that a middle school student and an employee at an elementary school have both tested positive for COVID-19. The school district said contact tracing — which involves contacting any person who had been within six feet of an infected person for more than 15 minutes — has been completed for both individuals.

The district said that children who were notified will need to quarantine at home for 14 days from the “last known contact” with an infected person.

The district has also confirmed five cases of COVID-19 at Corinth High School.
