The Trump campaign ran a contest offering donors a dinner with Trump

Americans in 34 states can't legally attend because of coronavirus restrictions

The Trump campaign spent between $79,000 to $100,000 on Facebook ads between August 3 and August 4 promoting a contest for a dinner with President Donald Trump on August 8 that many Americans could not legally attend because of COVID-19 restrictions, Judd Legum at Popular Information reported.

The campaign asked for donations to enter the contest for a chance to win a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity" to eat dinner with the president.

The ad for the dinner was shown at least 4.5 million times to Facebook users, said Legum, who characterized the contest as a "scam."

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Insider.

coagulating the shiny stuff, whatever that is, into delicately smooth palate pleasing creamy delight.

He kinda looks like Jesus at the last dinner

fans "win." There was an article a year or so ago that provided evidence that the winners get stiffed or that no winner is ever declared. Not surprised. That's Trump's MO.

Then nobody would be unable to attend. The person would just have to get to that state.

So I don't understand this point about 34 states. I don't think they're claiming Trump will come to the state where the winner lives to have dinner with them, but rather that you would have to go to where he's holding the dinner.

That being said, I'm 99% sure the contest is a scam and nobody will ever even be declared a winner.

You can totally depend on IQ45 conducting the contest like a proper, legal sweepstakes. Everything about him just screams 'honesty', don't you think?

BTW, isn't it like ... illegal to require purchases to have a chance to win in contests of this nature?

Oh what fun that would be.

Imagine him eating so fast to get the dinner over with that he chokes on his food.

I would start off with a rare steak. he has to have well done because he hates the sight of blood. I'm not particularly fond of rare, but I could do it just to gross him out. A few coughs and sneezes... then I would offer him my dessert.

The dinner is just for political people; Trump shows up at the end for the photo (he's done this before).
