Pritzker issued a mask mandate May 1 for people over the age of 2 in most public settings, but enforcing it has proved to be a challenge.

The new rules set out a three-step process that give businesses two chances to comply before they’re hit with a fine.

Businesses that don’t comply with the mask mandate will be given a warning in the form of a written notice. If they don’t voluntarily comply, they will then be ordered to have patrons leave their property “as needed to comply with public health guidance and reduce risks,” Pritzker’s office said in a news release announcing the rules.

If businesses still do not comply, they can receive a Class A misdemeanor, subject to a fine of $75 to $2,500.

He just made them official.
IDPH did post them on the dot gov page Friday, but they weren't in effect.
They are now.

the mask mandate at businesses. It's not exactly fair to put confronting scofflaws on your average employees. They have it bad enough risking working. Our Walmart had a uniformed security guard last time I was there.

and at least where I’ve been in the Western Burbs, mask compliance has been 100%.

I’m sure it’s worse downstate, and wherever the big bars are open though.

One of our 2 plazas (there's only around 7,000 here) has supermarket, pharmacy, liquor & hardware store. (Liquor store has gas pumps, too.)
Grocer & drug store, nearly 100%. Hardware store, 7 of 8, tops.
Liquor store, 50% or less.
Everything else there are offices & specialty shops. Haven't even walked by those windows to see about masks.
So, some places great, others not so much.
