Catalog businesses, utilities, credit card companies, advertising, magazines, investment companies, etc.
All of these types of businesses would face severe hardships if the USPS goes down the tube.
Why don't we hear from these businesses?
Beyond these businesses that rely heavily on an efficient postoffice - the everyday American is equally reliant on the USPS.
Why don't we initiate a major Call-In Campaign? A 'Call your Congressman and Senator campaign' and overwhelm their offices with a barrage of phone calls saying "Save the USPS"?
Let them know their jobs are in peril if they don't "Save The USPS". We will vote them out of office. You destroy our postoffice - we destroy your job.
We need to do this. This is just so insane and destructive to let Trump & the Repugs get away with this.

(14,565 posts)If this intentional slowdown had been undertaken a year ago it would not have been assigned to election manipulation.
In some ways we're very fortunate at this timing, since it stands out as a political tactic and also there is enough time to make logical adjustments.
But it demonstrates that Trump is just learning how far he can take things in his own benefit. If he got a second term it would not be worth paying attention at all, since one aspect of American life after another would be destroyed. I would never follow the news at all.

(16,616 posts)Jury Summonses and jury questionnaires. With things like that, sometimes you have only a few days to respond or you can be fined. Also motor vehicle renewals, insurance renewals.
I don't know about other states, but my motor vehicle tag renewals come about a week or two before it expires.

It is up to us to call our Senators and Representatives to let's them know this is an outrage!

(25,252 posts)rely on the USPS. It's easy to see the severe hardship it would create for us if the USPS was destroyed.
We need to put a stop to this destruction and let Trump & the Repugs know we will not tolerate their actions.
They must be made to realize the consequences they will face if they go on with their plan. They will lose their jobs.
What the hell are they thinking.
We know that the best way to get them to react is to swamp their offices with calls.
We need a "Save The USPS" call-in campaign now.
My calls will be made first thing tomorrow morning as their offices open for business.

(6,148 posts)It might be good to call the catalog companies and other businesses that you are depending on and push THEM to do something.
I know my utilities and banks have forced me to go paperless. But that would not be possible for the elderly and poor who don't have/use/understand computers. The people who are still writing checks. The people who still send Hallmark cards to grandchildren, nieces, nephews.
For their sake, call the companies they depend on and push those companies to fight for our post office.

(25,252 posts)we don't even have the desire or energy to call our Senators and Congressmen?
Has Trump knocked the stuffing out of us these last 3 3/4 years - that we've given up?
I already contacted both senators and the congresscritter about the Post Office. I'm just looking at how we can do more.
I figure that if we get the businesses screaming at the same time that the people are screaming, it may make a difference.

(1,261 posts)As far as Trump's concerned: Screw 'em this is about what REALLY important: Me!
For the rest of the GOPers it varies across a general range including
Cluess: "Wait, what really? I thought only the Poors needed that."
Self centered apathy: "Its not screwing with me in a direct, obvious fashion, so what's the harm?"
Obedience: "By your command, Imperious Leader."
With a sprinkling of nuance, some have escape plans, think this is some clever chess game/Russian Roulette ploy, the tickets to Moscow have arrived so who needs the post office, etc.
Was that one about obedience a classic Battlestar Galactica reference?

(5,754 posts)direct mail ads? Really?
been more than two weeks since I ordered something from a department store and still have not received it. Took three weeks to get something I ordered from Etsy and the person mailed it within a couple days of my order and know they did because they sent a message saying it was on the way. When I questioned her she said she had been getting many questions from people who had not received their orders yet. Its time for big and small businesses to start communicating to Senators and house members how it is hurting business. It is time for us as individuals to call and write or members in Congress to put a stop to what this postmaster general is doing. I also havent received some of my medication I ordered. Its been delayed.

(15,696 posts)I ordered some calligraphy pen holders from Indiana onJuly 24th. They left there on the 25th, went to Chicago & sat there; left for Denver on the 29th, went to Las Vegas on Aug. 4th and sat there, and finally arrived here in San Francisco on Aug. 8th.
And that's just 1 example of items I've waited on since mid July. The same is happening with Thriftbooks & Mercari, and Amazon can't guarantee2 day shipping anymore.

(15,719 posts)Monday through Saturday. They only stop by when they have something to deliver. The USPS stops by even if you do not have mail in case you have mail going out. In the rural areas they will drive up the side of a mountain just to check and see if you have outgoing mail. That is all priced into it.
I am sure the USPS could drop the price of mail delivery by a large precentage if they only delivered. If UPS and FEDEX had to check out every house and business in case something was going out, I am sure it would more than double their rates.

They send out jury notices by mail.
I am surprised that all of the businesses aren't screaming but then maybe most owners are republicans who want it privatized.

(2,393 posts)As a result, the private shipping companies lean on USPS to deliver packages when they dont have the capacity to do so. Two postal workers at separate USPS processing and distribution facilities told Motherboard they have seen a huge surge of UPS and Amazon packages recently. So USPS would lose out on most of Tintess business, but still get handed responsibility for the most unprofitable part of the shipping process.
