https://www.rawstory.com/2020/08/if-trump-loses-two-more-states-its-ballgame-over-ap-reporter/Appearing on MSNBCs Morning Joe, Associated Press White House correspondent Jonathan Lemire explained Donald Trumps chances of being re-elected have reached the point where, if he loses the electoral votes of one more, he will be out of luck and out of office.
Speaking with co-host Joe Scarborough, Lemire was asked where Trump stands in the battleground states he so desperately needs.
Both campaigns agree that there are six battleground states to decide this election: Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona, North Carolina, Florida, he began. Now the president has to play defense and has had to spend resources and had to go the past week to places like Ohio, Texas Georgia is another one where he has to play defense. We dont see, outside of perhaps New Hampshire, a place where Democrats have to do the same now that the Trump campaign has ceded Michigan.
So they can afford to lose one more they can lose Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, but they have to win the rest of them, he added. If they lose two the ball game is over, they cant get 270 electoral votes. They are concerned about where they stand in some of the states. Arizona in particular has been a place of worry for the presidents team of late. Thats a state hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic. Its not a coincidence that the president had the governor of Arizona here at the White House for an event last week where he talked about things getting better, played up how the federal government has stepped up for Arizona that was with an eye towards November. They cant win at all, and theres no path to victory without Florida theyre trailing there but feel reasonably confident about Florida and North Carolina too. but its the states: Pennsylvania and Wisconsin where they know theyre down and need to reverse fortunes as quickly.

Trump will claim there is a vaccine. The cult will believe it.
Trumps plan clearly is to keep his people tight and suppress voting by any way possible. Remember the DOJ let the restrictions on the GOP going back to the 80s lapse. They are going to be free to pull all kinds of crap.
Its all about turnout for us.

(9,070 posts)...so there's a chance Florida will turn blue...

(14,565 posts)That is mind boggling density. One state has 36% conservatives and the other 44%. Oh sure, let's whine about a handful of close defeats in the toss up state and play make-believe in the state where we're seldom within single digits.
The GOP outworks the Democratic Party in Florida. I have reported that constantly here, after experiencing it since moving back from Nevada. The ground games and sophistication and outreach are not remotely comparable. One side prioritizes all year long and the other side tries to cram with the final 2 months. Notice we just hired a coordinator of the Hispanic messaging. That should have been done 2 years ago.
This year is perfect opportunity for Biden to win this state. Just don't believe any nonsense polls with him 5 points ahead.
More than anything we need to hire a team of experts to figure out Florida and prioritize every area and every reachable demographic. It is ludicrous to under perform to such dependability in this state.

(9,070 posts)...and maybe Biden will win.
With all the folks on Medicare and the large International population, you would think Florida would be solid blue.
I also suspect that Florida has been the front line for GOP cheating for the last 20 years.

(9,070 posts)...and the GOP here runs wild with election trickery.
Maybe this is the year that changes it. I hope so.
I've seen a DRE flip votes, and I stood in front of the machine demanding that it be impounded until the ES had me escorted out.
I know it happens here.
At least mailed ballots leave a paper trial.

(35,346 posts)Republican has ever been elected president without Ohio.

(6,377 posts)Joe only needs to flip Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania to win the White House, and they all run noticeably to the left of Ohio.
He could very well flip those states, make significant ground in Ohio while still losing by 3 points (compared to Hillarys 8 point loss there) and win the presidency.
