Do Trump and his team realize that these press conferences are not working for him?

Are they that bad at politics that they don't understand that these press conferences only appeal to their base and no one else? Are their egos so big that they think that Trump's bullshit will work?

Yes, I know. Trump won in 2016, but that was a fluke which means that it's not likely to happen again.

If he goes off script, he says really bizarre off-the-wall stuff. When he stays on script, he sounds lethargic and robotic.

Today he looks really bad, as if he is really tired, depressed, and rather dopey.

First, I play golf on every day that ends in "y", and I'm not exhausted!
Second, he drives carts onto the tee boxes & fringes. He isn't walking but 200 yards the whole round!
Third, he never actually works.
He's not exhausted! He's pouting!

We've seen that look before and then the next day, he's his old belligerent self again. With Trump, I can't always tell if it is physical or psychological. Anyone who is angry all the time and rarely sleeps is apt to crash periodically.

He could have just canceled the press conference. He had nothing new or important to report, though we did learn that the "1917" flu had disastrous effects on World War II soldiers!

let Trump do lot more press conferences. More Trump talks, the more voters are abandoning him.

When he shows up to a "rally" they are empty. This way he can fantasize about the billions and billions waiting on his every word.

They are banking on a strategy of keeping his base motivated, depressing turnout from Democrats, and cheating. That is the strategy and they are "all in" on making it happen.

Trump is not very smart intellectually but he has built his brand on staying just a step ahead of the creditors. He is a con man who sees wins within a news cycle to news cycle. If they are talking about something Trump did or said, rather than the horror that is the economy or the pandemic, then to Trump, that is good publicity.

Trump winning in 2016 was not a fluke. It was a concerted effort to lie, cheat, and steal the election and they are trying to recreate that situation.

This reminds me of the last election when the MSM covered all of Trump's rallies 24/7. This takes the place of those rallies and the MSM is there to oblige. Not everyone knows that everything Trump says is a lie.

Trump was known primarily for "The Apprentice" and his image as a "rich and famous" guy from the 80's. It was all mystique. I think that the mystique has worn off for the most part.

However, I do share your concern. Trump is playing a game of "out run the problem". It is what he has done all of his life and to an extent, it has worked. He also has both foreign and domestic assistance from Russia and the GOP.

I don't think that it is about publicity for the most part. He does make a fool of himself to everyone but his base, when he get in front of the cameras.

It is really about getting the vote out. We have to have enough turnout, whether by mail in or in person, to make no mistake about wanting Biden in and Trump out.

Trump is trying to motivate his base and depress the Democratic vote enough to where he can steal the election again. This is where we have to stop him.
