I'm watching The Reidout, and a person-on-the-street person who needs bailout money complained about the bickering in Congress and how it needs to stop and average people need to be helped. Agreed. BUT
I get pissed when I hear things that sound like mere bickering is going on when The Dems are fighting for comprehensive help for struggling Americans! Like both sides are the problem. Just ranting, but it causes me despair to think some people feel Dems are bickering

(423 posts)- while they try to stop the genocide of the poor is not "bickering". It's deadly serious.
That comment got under my skin too!

(21,577 posts)if they don't like bickering they can call their Dem reps and tell them to just pass the GOP plan if they want. They'll get a shit sandwich and watch billionaires pocket more relief money but at least they won't have to watch "bickering" anymore.

(24,414 posts)I HATE the "both sides" narrative because most of the time it isn't accurate or true and obscures what the debate is actually about.

(11,738 posts)They say that it is being objective, but the problem is that they are not relaying all of the relevant details and allowing the viewer to decide. They are just saying that both sides are arguing, which is true, but I think a lie by omission.
Democrats want a larger payout for longer, and want to pay for it by raising taxes on the wealthy. They also want specific provisions to ensure safe elections.
Republicans want to decrease the payout because they want people to have to go back to work to stimulate the economy. They do not want to approve provisions to increase access to voting.
That is WHAT they are arguing about. THAT is what needs to be reported, then you can say, they are arguing.
