Maybe 15-20 years ago that they put that in. And I just looked it up, it was 2006, so 14 years ago.

The Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act was signed into law by President George W. Bush on December 20, 2006.

1) USPS is run as a non-profit Government Service that will pay for itself through fees. It does not take money from the Treasury except in the form of loans. It handles its own finances just like a "business". So it can lose money, and does, especially in recent years.

2) The law was passed late 2006. It doesn't pre-fund pensions, just health benefits for the next 75 years worth of retirees. This was signed by W Bush after it passed a lame duck session. Why Obama did not rescind this crap right off is beyond me.

3) No fees for the Postal Service? So Amazon can ship for free? So we can get junk mail that is delivered free of charge to the sender? The Postal Service could run fine on a fee based system if not for political interference. This privatize the Postal Service crap was promoted by Reaganites, and he started the trend of appointing outside business men as Postmaster General.
