He is described as conservative.
What do you think if this being published today?

(63,912 posts)then I read his bio. He is bound to do this, as a conservative. He wants to undermine her on the day that she might be chosen.
But this is a warning. These guys don't play nice.

(135,835 posts)The New York Times should not have hired climate change bullshitter Bret Stephens
May 1, 2017, 9:30am EDT
It really shouldnt have.
For one thing, though the paper defends the hire in the name of opinion diversity, Stephens is a very familiar sort of establishment conservative a cosmopolitan, well-educated, reflexively pro-Israel war hawk (who once wrote a column on the disease of the Arab mind) who thinks anti-racists are the real racists but moderates on select issues to demonstrate his independence.
It is difficult to imagine a perspective more over-represented in DC political circles, at least relative to its representation in the actual conservative movement. In terms of intellectual contribution, his main credential seems to be that he has opposed Donald Trump.

(18,402 posts)The editorial pages publish a spectrum of views from lefty to conservative voices from op ed columnists. That's what "opinion" means. We can agree or disagree with those opinions.
Once we start demanding that only certain opinions are publishable, we're going down the rabbit hole. Let's get over it: Times readers are smart enough to form their own opinions about columnists' opinions.

(906 posts)Things like this will come out as trying to destroy the persons reputation.
Heck even if Joe picked Jesus as his running mate we could expect to see things like.
seriously the man never shaves.
but he was a criminal they brought him up on charges
he is wacky spent 40 days in the desert
And of course
He was crucified I like people who werent crucified
So expect trashing to happen and be prepared to defend or ignore the fake stuff.
I believe Joes got it handled and is ready and so is his pick.

(1,206 posts)If it's this easy to take her record down, why would Joe want to have to deal with it moving into the election?
Seems like an unnecessary burden - more prudent to go with someone as VP with less baggage that can be so easily attacked.
Just bring her into the administration when it's all over.
CTyankee
(63,912 posts)and the fact that her presence reminds folks of the good Obama admin. Now I see exactly where they are going to attack her.
HotTeaBag
(1,206 posts)I've been a big supporter of her for the last few weeks based mostly on her appearances on MSNBC and the like and just figured they'd go after Benghazi if Joe picked her, which has been adjudicated over and over and would be relatively easy to manage.
But there's so much more fertile ground for attack that even though I think she'd be a great asset to the Biden Administration, I'm not so sure that picking her as VP would be the best course of action (though I admittedly know next to nothing).
Having Susan Rice on the ticket would be a shiny object for Trump campaign (and more importantly, the media) to go after rather than focusing on the disaster that has been the last three and a half years of Donald Trump in the White House.
CTyankee
(63,912 posts)seem so. The closest we got was Obama. No extramarital affairs, no grifting, etc. He was damn near perfect, in that respect. They didn't like some things he wrote but he didn't call for riots in the street. So here we are.

(1,206 posts)There isn't a single 'home run' on his short list as it's being reported. Though my hope is still for Warren - though it seems to be fading fast.

(63,912 posts)This won't be pretty but I think we'll win. Gotta be ready with legal teams ready to stop what they can of the cheating attempts. I trust that Biden's team has got what it takes to do just that.
