...a former prime time network anchor whose name seemed all but destined to be included with those of Rather, Brokaw, Jennings, Cronkite and Morrow, tells a foolish tall tale and is immediately banished from the Garden, and now lives in exile in an 11 pm cable spot.

What could have been...

I actually do tune in from time to time, and I think in terms of his delivery, he still has "it" in terms of anchorability.

He is the consummate news person. Smart, calm, well read. His show is well done every night. His humor and snarky comments a joy. And the night his daily countdown said we have less than 100 days until the election was a glimpse that our long national nightmare may soon be over. I have nothing against Lester Holt but he is no Brian Williams. He needs to be back on prime time or give him the Sunday “Meet the Press” gig. Chuck Todd has besmirched that show long enough.

I always thought he got a bad deal by the public, which I assume was always the "right." He was misremembering things and the public made them fire him. They don't want people you can trust giving the news and that helps that whole talking point of the media lies and they support the left.

I love how he delivers the news! I like how Nicole and him interact on their show, his show is waaaay too late for me.

but I suppose I am rather grateful to have him on MSNBC. I grow tired of so many of the network's hosts and appreciate his more straight forward and professional delivery with just a hint of understated humor. He rarely misses a beat, doesn't cut off guests, and knows how to smoothly transition from one story to another.

Chuck for the Meet the Press host was beyond comprehension. You'd have thought MSNBC would have learned after David Gregory. I remember when Todd was the Steve Kornacki at MSNBC and I didn't mind him in that role, but he doesn't have what it takes to carry an entire show five days a week. Also his choice of guests were often infuriating.

I agree about Williams being a good listener. Too many can't even pretend like they are listening to guests. They are often so obviously getting ready to answer and then they come across as dismissive and rude. Nicole Wallace is a good listener too, never rushes the guests.

is rather reassuring. I want to believe that people can change and Trump has shown that many can. Some of the best outspoken voices these days have come from former republicans. Giving Nicole Wallace her own show was one of the smarter things MSNBC has done, almost makes up for Greta Van Susteren and Megyn Kelly.

Tue Aug 11, 2020, 06:55 PM

Then I started watching it again recently. Wow, talk about change. Joe goes off on anti Trump tirades almost every morning now. Very articulate and persuasive. It does not appear to all be show either, some days he is genuinely outraged.

He announced three years ago that he was leaving the republican party. There is a lot less tension on the show these days. He's not the domineering bully he used to be and as a result, the regulars seem much more relaxed.

July 2017 -

While on the 'Late Show with Stephen Colbert,' Joe Scarborough announces he is leaving the Republican Party to be an Independent.

https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/101/video/joe-i-think-a-lot-of-republicans-feel-the-way-i-do-993686595670

There are however times when I fast-forward through his monologues, as he tends to repeat himself an awful lot and his gigantic ego is as big as ever.

Mika has always been a Democrat, though until Trump's presidency, she had been pretty wishy-washy. Overall, the show is far better than it ever was, though I don't watch it everyday.
