McCain himself was born in the Canal Zone (when it was an American "possession," and of course his parents were military, so he was a citizen).
Maybe if we go back to the first 7-8 presidents, the ones who were born before 1776 (so they were born in "Greater Britain" , probably one or two of them had both parents born Britain.?

(7,947 posts)Or whatever you call it, a possession. So it was more maybe like moving from one British colony to another until 1776 when we became a different country. Not sure that's "immigration" in the sense of parents born in another country and moving here. (Of course, Ireland WAS another country, but it wasn't allowed to be for another 150 years.)

ETA: A few others not mentioned previously in this thread had one immigrant parent (Edmund Muskie, Spiro Agnew).
