The theory appears to be that Biden's selection of Harris would cause Trump to pick a woman to attract female voters. The point is that Trump ONLY cares about his base votes, which is not where he's losing women voters from. He's sticking with his base, which includes his evangelical bible thumpers who love Pence.

If he replaced Pence with a woman - or anyone. I think that some evangelicals, when they're all alone in the dark, are honest with themselves and only support the whole God-chose-Trump BS in hopes that health statistics will catch up with Trump, pushing Pence into the presidency. He would continue to push what Trump did but also be sincere about his beliefs and have no sex scandals for them to worry about.
