That dumb son of a bitch. All I can say he is that type that is a Bernie or bust idiot. Basically if anyone wanted Kamala is a bootlicking idiot. I went nuclear on him and told him this isn't a fucking game. This is about saving America. But he didn't care and said he wasn't voting for blue Trump.
I told him damn you to hell if he wins again. People like him are a huge problem. Get over yourselves and save the goddamn country. Fuck your goddamn pride.

(14,857 posts)Seriously, try not to fret too much. The overwhelming majority of Bernie supporters voted for Hillary Clinton in the general in 2016. I expect a similar percentage will cast their ballots for Joe Biden in 2020.

(3,614 posts)They also were Jill Stein supporters.
These people I've known for over 40 years. They were freaking hippies for goodnes sake. One I met when I lived in Maui, and I met her parents, I think they at one time lived in one of those hippy communes.
But today, I see their facebook posts where they are touting this Bill Gates (anti-vaxer) conspiracy theories, they don't believe that the Virus is real.
I just don't get it. It makes me so sad. I think in one case it is the woman being influenced by her husband. The other one has just gone so far left it is circling around to match up with some of the right wing conspiracies.
*sigh*
I love them so much, from what we shared in the past. I just scroll past. I can't bring myself to unfriend them. I would rather quit facebook all together (very close to doing this).
I just don't get it.

(2,586 posts)I myself did not back Kamala Harris in the primaries, and wd have liked to see a more progressive running mate -- but as against Trump & Pence the Dem ticket are like angels. Once in power, we on the left will have to mobilize but at least we won't have to fight like hell just to get something less than these neoliberals wd offer w/o facing a mass mobilized militant movement. A lot of this "bootlicker" language are folk who wd rather have someone like DT in power as he provides a sharper target to mobilize against.
You cd point out to your "friend" that Congresswoman Barbara Lee (among other things the ONLY no vote on the original Patriot Act), filmmaker Spike Lee & longtime organizer Dolores Huerta all backed Kamala Harris in the primaries. Is your "friend" ready to call them "bootlickers"> probably not that courageous, and will find a way to weasel out. I'm not uncritical of any of these figures, but then NO one (including Bernie) is perfect. Every political choice is based upon what is the best that can be accomplished at a given point in time, including in the primaries

(47,486 posts)with the nightmare we live in daily, that some people still can't move forward and work to save our democracy. I have friends who were Bernie supporters and they are behind Joe and Kamala 100%. I just don't understand those who are so stuck, that they can't see the forest for the trees. Maybe it is a personality type, I don't know.
