If it is I am so disappointed. I love(d) his work. I tried googling to confirm it was him (his voice is very distinctive) but couldnt find confirmation or denial.
Edited: to make it clear I cant find confirmation or denial it is him.

I recently bought of a number of his old westerns on DVD. It probably was him, however, I wouldnt put it past some impotus pac or RNC to imitate his voice like they play Songs without permission from the artist.

(37,668 posts)Yes, his voice is distinctive, but that by itself makes it ripe for imitation.

(13,297 posts)IIRC, it was for commercial ads and the imitator lost. It depends on how recognizable the voice is and whether they had a disclaimer. I'm not sure if this applies to political ads, though.

(19,077 posts)I had the same reaction that you did for a GOP ad in 2018. I went down a rabbit hole and found out its a voice actor who sounds a lot like him but is not him. There was an article about it online. Ill see if I can find it. Elliotts been vocal about MeToo in a positive way and has also described himself as a centrist in interviews.

(34,857 posts)But I'm not sure why you automatically state it's him when your own research doesn't pull up anything on it?
He clearly doesn't support Trump:

(34,857 posts)The post still states it as basically a matter of fact. Maybe edit it to include that it's an ad that sounds like it may be narrated by Sam Elliott - not that it is.

(25,816 posts)I turned to Jeannie and asked--Is that Sam Elliott? She said --Sure sounds like him.
If it's not him, which I hope, he should let everyone know---do an ad for Joe, or a tweet.
Something to shame trump and save his reputation. Show his face with the ad.

(19,194 posts)Its been playing for several days now so I was hoping if its not him he would have put out a press release or something like that.

(43,889 posts)And Elliot's voice is distinctive.
I've heard Morgan Freeman's voice imitated by voice-overs as well.
MuseRider
(34,614 posts)of him just yesterday. He said his voice gets used for things that he does not support. I do not know how much recourse he has once it is out there. There are some people who can mimic his voice but not many.
I do know that he is NOT a righty, actually not a lefty either but more a centrist, at least that is what he said but he seemed a little bit more to the left just listening to him but only he knows. I kinda doubt he even knows about this yet.
