They've been open about it since he was hospitalized. I'm sure his social media staff had been the sole source of his tweets the entire time the account existed. Best guess here is they have a bot which generates these tweets to the account.

Remember that racist Willie Horton ad against Mike Dukakis? Well, the guy behind it is named Floyd Brown. Floyd Brown owns a media company named Liftable. Liftable operates the wingnut news site westernjournal dot com. Up until he got sick, one of Western Journal's regular authors was Herman Cain. They never explicitly reveal it but I'm pretty damned sure Liftable also runs hermancain dot com, as well as Cain's social media accounts, including Twitter.

tl;dr The guy that was doing this dogwhistle shit in the 80s is now desacrating a dead black man for propaganda.

That's pretty much how these type of accounts work. They create a bot to feed it based on specific parameters and let it go after that. If a post generates enough interest a staff member comes in and "manages" it on occasion.

It's not unlike how Russian disinformation bots work, FWIW.

Herman Cain probably never once posted there. His social media staff used a bot to post to it, which should have been obvious by the multiple posts while he was in the ICU. Then every so often a person in charge would give a rosy update on his condition. That was a real person.

Bots, learn to recognize them, report them (BTW, if you have Twitter report this atrocity!) and not be drawn in by them.

Literally, this is the same type of bots Russia has weaponized against us. Be smart out there folks. They're not the floppy weird things we were used to in the old days. They're sophisticated and hard to spot unless they do replies. They work off complex algorithms now.

It should not have a blue tick mark now. Ideally it would be shut down, but I doubt Twitter has the guts to do that. If they campaign with it, it's now under false pretenses.
