... was written by Pete Seeger and Lee Hays in 1949.

"Lemon Tree" was written by Will Holt in the '50s, and was based on old Brazilian folk song.

While Trini Lopez's rendition of both songs was uniquely his own, he wrote neither of them.

We all have a tendency to attribute artists with originating songs that we feel they contributed to with their own unique style.
