I kind of see this as similar to George Bush's letter to Bill Clinton when Bush left the Presidency
1) out of the chute trust no one new
2) fight mightily to keep your own team with you - they know you, know your voice, and most importantly are trustworthy;
3) dont get muzzled - connect with media and voters in your own unique way. Some yahoos running campaigns will suffocate you with their own self-centered agenda so remember YOU were chosen for who YOU are. So stay connected with America as you smile and ignore deceptive handlers trying to change you;
4) some fun terms you may learn:
OTR - an orchestrated campaign stop thats meant to look un-orchestrated where you normalize in front of voters. (Id remembered not packing my running shoes, they turned it into a whole campaign stop with media detailing my every move trying on shoes.) OTRs get bizarre (try eating in front of vultures looking for the gotcha shot!) but my team made OTRs the second most fun thing!
Ropeline: thee MOST fun thing! Every single handshake and holler and hug and smile melted my heart, energized my soul, and gave me the utmost hope in the greatest country on earth! The ropeline is often the only way to literally touch those whom you wish to serve, so be sincere in looking in their eyes, understanding why theyre there, never forgetting they represent the innumerable Americans putting their trust in you to serve for the right reasons. Its who and what they represent that is all that matters!
5) dont forget the women who came before you;
6) have fun! This IS the greatest country in the world and hopefully youll be blessed beyond belief, like I was, with meeting new people from all walks of life and see just how great it is!

No one asked her.

(33,643 posts)I don't think much of Palin's politics, but I think this was pretty nice, myself.
Obviously Harris is *much* sharper than her, and likely needed very little of this advice, but I don't think it came from a bad place, so not gonna bag on the lady.

(65,044 posts)Palin got elected governor of a state with a population less than 12 CITIES in California.
Harris got elected AG of a state with 55x the people.
Palin quit.
Harris went on to the US Senate.
Palin, as VP candidate, got whomped.
What would make Ms. Harris care a whit about what Palin has to say?

(102,279 posts)of grace in the effort that I did not really expect from her. So, though she's done little to balance the disgust I continue to have for her, this little gesture earns her a small nod. (and yes, it is ludicrous to think Harris needs any advice from Palin, but at face value, I will still give her the small nod).
And when I first saw this, I expected some snark from Palin. I gotta admit, Im surprised at how gracious she was. I still think that something happened between Trump and Palin - do you think he hit on her and she realized just what a sorry asshole he is? I wonder....
