Haven't heard anything lately on the effort to recall Gov. Whitmer so I did a search and found this:
"LANSING (August 3, 2020) With all the drama of a soap opera, the first approved recall ballot petition effort against Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has canceled its signature collection amid allegations that the founder, Chad Baase, used the committees funds for personal use.
The Committee To Recall Governor Gretchen Whitmer has fractured in recent days as organizers cut ties with Baase, who they said had become unreliable and acting suspiciously.
Baase, who is also running as a Republican for the 62nd Michigan House district, has flatly denied most allegations except that money is missing."

(1,624 posts).. She's my governor, as I'm a Michigander from birth.
I think she's doing alright.
2032/36 is not that far off... You go Gretchen!
Oh and BTW, Chad's an idiot.

(4,461 posts)... swell guy.
Baase spent 30 months in prison in 2014 after telling County Commissioner Steve Frisbie that he would kill 10,000 people a day by poisoning the water supply and threatening to kill family court referees and county judges and their children in a series of Aug. 12, 2013, Facebook messages.

(32,683 posts)that say My Governor is an Idiot. Most likely this group, I'm hoping. I love telling those talk bad about her like that her approval numbers are going up in Michigan.

(9,426 posts)Seems he has the qualities (?) the gop approves of. Their party really does attract the lowest of the low.

(36,303 posts)Even though the polls show otherwise and the fact that all the recall efforts (there's been about a dozen) have failed so far to get anywhere near qualifying.

(58,785 posts)that's taken over their party that these stories are so common as to almost normalize it. First the recall itself, as if that wasn't entirely rooted in corrupted, long-gone principles, and probably some good, old-fashioned business corruption of government, and now this.

(7,504 posts)petition gatherers who were being paid were telling people it was a petition to support Whitmer. This was supported by Republicans in the statehouse.

Typical Republican antics. Lie, cheat and steal ought to be their official motto.

(28,347 posts)Looks like this won't make it to ballot. Too bad, it would've been good to see it fail -- bigly.
I personally don't know anyone who doesn't appreciate Gov. Whitmer. From the start she's been proactive. She's a strong and intelligent leader.
The only complaint we talk about up here in Northern Michigan is she allowed our establishments to open while the rest of the state remain closed. So, the downstaters have migrated north bringing the virus with them. You can't blame them, it's beautiful up here!
As an aside, I'm thankful Rick Snyder is no longer our governor. He would have failed us, just as he did to Flint, Detroit and the state as a whole. He would have failed us almost as bad as Donald has failed our nation.
